Two of the best distance programs in the country traveled in for the Oregon Relays and made some history Friday night in the distance medley relays.

Cuthbertson NC's girls and Herriman UT's boys ran onto the all-time high school lists with their performances, but both of them were also pushed.

VIDEOS/RESULTS

Cuthbertson anchor Charlotte Bell needed a late kick over the final 100 meters get separation from tenacious Lincoln OR freshman Ellery Lincoln to win the girls race in 11:30.36.

The Cavaliers, who already own the indoor record with the fastest time ever by a high school team (11:17.50), were about seven seconds shy of Harvard-Westlake CA's outdoor record set in 2011. Still, it was a US#1 and No. 6 all-time.

Bell split 4:42.01 on the anchor and Cuthbertson smashed the meet record by 13 seconds.

The lineup included Justine Preisano, Tatiana Blake and Stella Kermes

Lincoln split 4:43.33, took the lead from Bell at one point, and helped her team blast the Oregon all-time best out of the water by 21 seconds with 11:33.67. Lincoln's time is No. 14 all-time.

Mercer Island of Washington finished third in 11:57.40.

In the boys race, Herriman became the first team from Utah to break the 10-minute barrier as the team ran 9:59.57 for No. 27 all-time.

Maxwell Hofheins got it started for Herriman, then Zeke Kearney carried for 400 meters in his first DMR duty, Tayshaun Ogomo ran the 800-meter leg and William Steadman anchored in 4:07.54.

Herriman is looking forward to another big effort Saturday in the 4x800.

Boise ID finished second in 10:07.59 and Riverton UT was third in 10:11.89.
