Toughest Week of the Year

After practice today, Coach Mull brought up the idea that the third week of practice seems to be the most difficult each year, which got me thinking about that idea.

During the fir st week, we spend so much time going over protocols, getting athletes cleared, and introducing all the newbies to the various events, that the week just flies by.  Before you know it, we're enjoying our yearly tradition of hot chocolate at the end of the first Friday's practice.

Week two brings us our first interval session on Monday, and the rest of the week we are in the regular flow of two event sessions each day.  Our athletes have been doing a great job this year getting from event to event, using their practice time wisely, and in general just doing outstanding work.

What makes week three so difficult is everyone just wants to get out there and start competing.  Thankfully, we have our Red-White intrasquad meet this Wednesday and Thursday, March 10-11th.  This will be our first time doing any official timing, marking, or measuring this year, so that seems to contribute to the growing squirrelliness.  Once we get through this week though, the competition season begins, and then the year will be in full swing.

This should be an outstanding season for us, and we are definitely ready to get it started!
