THIS WEEK
The Ducks welcome outstanding fields in the middle distances, plus hundreds of high schoolers from around the region, for the Oregon Relays Friday and Saturday at Historic Hayward Field. The first field event gets underway Friday at 3 p.m., with the featured evening section starting at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, early prep events start at 10 a.m., with the college/pro feature section beginning at 11 a.m.

Seven meet records fell last year (women's 100, 200, 800, 1,500, 100 hurdles, 4x100 relay; men's 800), and with elite entries across the board combined with a decent weather forecast, those marks and more could be in jeopardy in 2012.

WEB CAST
The Oregon Sports Network will webcast the collegiate portions of the Oregon Relays on www.goducks.com. Former Duck track coach Tom Heinonen will handle the announcing duties. Friday's webcast will begin at 6:15 p.m. Saturday's webcast will take place from be from 11:20 a.m. to 2 p.m. A subscription to the O-Zone is required to watch the webcast. The entire high school portion of the Oregon Relays will be shown live on www.runnerspace.com.

FEATURED SECTIONS
Though competition will be ongoing all weekend, the Oregon Relays will have two featured sections, Friday from 6:20-8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here's a glance at the entries from those featured sections:

Friday
Women's 200 Meters
A host of Duck sprinters are entered, including NCAA champion and school record holder Amber Purvis, as well as Phyllis Francis, Lauryn Newson, Chizoba Okodogbe and Brianne Theisen. Purvis set the meet record last year when she ran 23.13.
Men's 200 Meters
Oregon's Mike Berry and Arthur Delaney head the list.
Women's 1,500 Meters
The women's 1,500 meters could be one of the best races in the nation this weekend. OTC Elite's Sally Kipyego, Geena Gall, Julia Lucas and Bridget Franek will be joined by Oregon's Jordan Hasay, Megan Patrignelli and Lanie Thompson, plus Oregon State's Laura Carlyle. Kipyego set the meet record in this event in 2011 (4:06.23).
Men's 1,500 Meters
The men's 1,500 could rival the women's race in terms of excitement. Duck All-Americans Elijah Greer, Trevor Dunbar and Boru Guyota will be tested by OTC Elite's Chris Thompson, Ian Dobson, Kevin Chelimo and Tyler Mulder.
Women's 5,000 Meters
Duck distance specialists Bronwyn Crossman and Molly Grabill run against professionals Annie Bersagel (NB Silicon Valley) and Sarah Lee (Impala Racing Team).
Bill McChesney, Jr., Men's 5,000 Meters
